BOOG

The Alaskan bush pilot who shall be known only as "BOOG" demonstrating extreme short/rough field takeoff technique. The so-called "strip" was measured at about 350 feet. Don't try this at home (may take a while to load all the pictures).

Selected Ketchikan Roadtrip Pictures:

airhaul1.jpg
--This wrecked little Piper rode the same ferry from Cordova to Valdez as we did, but I didn't think to get a picture until we caught up with it somewhere south of Glenallen.
dhc2wrck.jpg
--This "winter project" was parked in the lot when we left the motel at Haines Junction.
paradise.jpg
--Somebody's private resort along the Cassiar Highway in Canada. The sign behind the floatplane (which is unreadable in the picture) proclaims that the place is for sale.
spbase.jpg
--Part of the Seaplane Base in Prince Rupert (otherwise a lousy place to be stuck for 3 days waiting for the ferry to Ketchikan).
bear2.jpg
--Not aviation related, but he was too cool not to put on the web.

The Rest:

522-797.jpg
--My brother Tom's 1972 Citabria 7ECA, the most photographed plane in Cordova.
522final.jpg
--Tom's Citabria on final approach at the end of its first flight following an extensive rebuild.
chief.jpg
--A 54" wingspan stick & tissue model of an Aeronca Chief I built while I was in college. Unfortunately due to its size I had to leave it in Fairbanks.
cit62798.jpg
--A picture of my brother Tom just after takeoff in his Citabria.
citab1.gif
--The actual Citabria logo from the original covering on Tom's plane's tail. I scanned it and cleaned it up a lot.
me109.jpg
--A picture my brother created in high school photography class. I cleaned it up a bit on the computer. The plane is actually one of my models.
p51clair.jpg
--Clair The Cat demonstrates the importance of a thorough preflight inspection.
punkkid.jpg
--Tom doing his best to look like the punk he is...Probably the only pic I have of his plane during the rebuild.
tkffroll.jpg
--A rather large picture of Tom rolling down the runway.
captom.jpg
--This is your captain speaking.....
solo.gif
--Picture taken after my first solo, I am on the left.
